In Response To: general questions.... (Maestro) > How advanced will Oni's engine be compared to, Quake 3 or Tomb Raider, or
That depends on what your definition of "advanced" is, doesn't it? ;-) I don't have engine specs for any of those games, so I can't make any meaningful feature comparisons. Our aim with Oni was always to make the technology work for the story and style of gameplay we had in mind. Because Oni is substantially different in those key respects from other games out there, it hasn't really been important to us to measure the engine against other engines. > Will a 3 button mouse give you an advantage when playing Oni, rather than
I don't think any work has been done on that, but it's not out of the question. Our primary goal is to make sure that people with standard 2-button mice (and the 1-button on the Mac) can play the game easily. > If there are people that have Auto cad and all of the tools to make a
I think what you're asking is whether you'll be able to create levels if you happen to have AutoCad already installed. You wouldn't be able to do it with just AutoCad; there are other tools that we've had to create ourselves for certain things. There's always a possibility (note that I used the word "possibility," as opposed to "certainty") that we'll release header files and stuff like that for the benefit of hackers who might be able to do something with them. But we know how hard it is to make Oni levels because we've been working on some of them for years now. Access to AutoCad does not equate with the ability to churn out Oni levels. I guess the answer is "We'll see." > Are there hot and sexy college girls in Oni? Yes, and you can find them in the secret bonus level, "Matt's Apartment," feeding me grapes. > If there are cutscenes, will they be movies like in myth or in game
The plan is for a couple cell-animation cutscenes a la Myth. Most of the cutscenes during the game will be in-engine. > If there are in game cutscenes will i be able to to skip them after i have
I'm not sure if this is already in there, but I'm on your side on this one so I'll push for it. :-) > is there anything else that would be cool to know? There's always something else that would be cool to know...most of it I'm not allowed to talk about yet. There are a couple of cool new developments...I'll try and drop some new info on the forums in the near future. -Matt |
