yeah. It may seem very awkward at first (people who use mouse control in Marathon or Quake for the first time tend to be pointing to the ground all time time), but once you get over that it's really great.

People also often complain about the single button mouse on the Mac. it's really not a problem; one thing many people don't realize is that the Mac has more modifiers keys on the keyboard (Control, Shift, Option and Command--control is under-used on the Mac; it only came for compatiblity with Apple II keyboards). The typical way to use a Mac is with one hand on the mouse and another hand on the modifier keys.

For example, with quake I have my mouse button set to fire, and the control key set to zoom. I'm very happy with that :-/ I would think another button on the mouse for zooming would drive me nuts. Part of the ease may come from having to learn to use control instead of caps-lock for running in Marathon.

As far as switching weapons goes in Quake 3, I keep all the most important weapons readily available from a single push of a button of my left hand. If I have to sit there cycling through weapons I'm going to get fragged... sometimes I get killed just for switching from one weapon to the next.
