Well...I used to be skeptical of D&D/D20, too, but I came around. See, the thing is, it's TOTALLY customizable. I was thinking of either having only two basic classes (Soldier and Sorcerer) or just one basic class (no name necessary), plus a whole load of prestige classes (e.g. Pathfinder, Berkserk, Captain, etc.) to simulate character types from the games. Templates (http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/srd/srdmonsterstemplates.html) could be used to do the Fallen and Avatara. As to your problem with racial ability bonuses...I agree 100%. Who says you have to keep them? Hell, you could make all the races identical in game terms, or simulate differences with bonus feats, or skill bonuses, or what have you. IMHO, D20 is a spectacular system, and, as I said, suited almost perfectly for Myth. I would be interested in hearing more about your system, though.
