: Very well, if you must define it as such. I prefer to get
: something we can all agree upon.

Asylumers? Agree? Weird.

: Not so. Usually a person will take the most extreme
: course of debate standing to not be proven wrong.
: Often, this is counterproductive in getting the truth,
: as it hinders the acceptance of new ideas. A
: compromise may actually be the truth, if it is
: revealed as such.

This is largely because those who do this take the most extreme view possible in anticipation of compromise, knowing that the fact that their view is highly slanted to one side will, probably, lead to the end compromise also to be slanted in their favour, and probably closer to their actual view on the matter. The chances are that those who are unwilling to compromise believe that their argument as it stands is true, and that to accept compromise would be to accept a warping of the truth.

: Besides, my compromise doesn't affect the truth from
: before. That's partly why I'm willing to accept it.

"The truth from before" being, I assume, your interpretation of the arguments from before. Not having the design documents, we cannot be sure what may be the truth, although we may possess it nevertheless. As for the compromise, it seems remarkably similar to your previous argument, which, I think, could be summed up as something to the effect of "GURPS is completely inferior to absolutely anything else Myth related, other than that published by 3rd parties, as well as any extrapolations from any of the aforementioned productions." The only element of compromise seems to be the removal of the superiority of such extrapolations over GURPS. For what my two cents are worth, I adhere more to a theory of "Anything publised by Bungie or those employed by, associated with, approved by of sanctioned by Bungie can be considered canon unless it directly contradicts ingame evidence from one of the majot titles (ie. those beginning Myth [number or blank] [word or words]."

: Obstinance solves nothing. Ask the Germans. (If you don't
: fully get that joke, please say; I like subtlety, but
: I like you getting the jokes even more. :-)

Au contraire. Ask the Spartans. :)

Martel.
