I played my first match of Warzone today on Apex 7 and saved up all my REQ points to afford a standard sniper rifle. It was likely an item I received from a purchased REQ pack but in any case it was a power weapon. So I bought the sniper rifle about half-way through the match and I thought I'd be getting some decent kills on enemy players or the bosses.
Spawn at the beach with my pretty new sniper rifle and around the corner comes an enemy Scorpion. Needless to say I had absolutely nowhere to run besides into a grave. BOOM! That sniper rifle was left to whomever could find it and I certainly didn't chase after it with the area being enemy territory.
Essentially my REQ points, and possibly even a few of my own pennies, were wasted. Am I pissed? Absolutely not. Do I feel cheated out of the money I invested into the game? Nope. It was my fault I chose to buy a sniper rifle at that moment, respawn at that base, and ultimately running out into the open to my death. That's the great thing about this whole REQ system stuff. I'm not even assured that I can use my giant stick of death against the enemy because of the good chance I'll be caught with my pants down and oh my god bad metaphor. ABORT! ABORT!
Okay, so, let's do that again. REQs don't make you any better of a player. If you're not aware of your surroundings with concern to enemy movements you'll die. While a super fancy power weapon or vehicle affords you the ability to turn the tide of a match, you still need to have mastered the use of that weapon by knowing how to counter enemy players. Even then there's a good chance that some random ass player with the default assault rifle and magnum will end your spree and take your fancy REQ goods without having to lift a finger.
The REQ system with regards to earning and purchasing, both with in-game and real currency, seems to be very balanced. I don't mind it at all that someone could purchase a REQ pack, get a Nornfang sniper rifle, and dominate the match. If they're a good sniper then that's that. Likewise, someone who instead earned a REQ pack, acquired a Ravening Sliver energy sword, and snuck up on that enemy sniper can end their killing spree outright. Either way both of them could be splattered by someone in a Mongoose in an instant.
