Why do Sangheli get married?

  • They lay eggs.
  • Males don't know who their children are.
  • Children are raised communally.

So why get married: 1 male to 1 female?

Monogamy makes sense for humans when you have a good chance of knowing if the children living under your roof are your children.

But what benefit does monogamy have for the communal child rearing Sangheli?
