Up until ODST, Halo managed to be a modern scifi shooter which didn't feature levels apparently coated in a fine layer of shit. Now, Reach and ODST kinda got away with it because of the way they used it, which wasn't the generic "grr gritty and dirty" way, but the MCC really has no excuse.
