No, no, I think I know exactly what you're talking about.

I think that the Composers are a cheap plot device. I think that this whole "We tried to convert organic life to synthetic life but they came out wrong and kept going insane" plot twist is nothing but Star Trek bullshapsky.

But I really don't have a problem with the new revelation. Six composers? Dandy. Bet there's even more out there. The biggest weakness of the Didact's attack on Earth was that it would take at least a day to complete, assuming he didn't try to compose every last human being. What if, by hooking a Composer up to a Halo installation, he could compose wide swaths of a planet?

The only problem would be deployment, as the Halo installations can't travel through Slipspace on their lonesome. Maybe the Didact will do something about it, maybe Brian Reed will just conveniently forget about it.

The cliche that annoys me is... well, the rest of the story. The exchange between the Chief and Blue Team feels like filler.

And then there's the artwork.

Tell me, who didn't look at that and expect the Chief to say "Let's split up, gang!"

And then we have the Didact bragging. Somehow, I can't shake the feeling that I've seen it before. I've got this terrible feeling of presque vu that...
