: they're not dead), a lack of Cortana, multiple existing Spartans, the
: "Janus key," the list goes on. 343 has done a good job at
: opening the gates further for a lot more storytelling.

I feel as if the stakes are higher, because every moral misstep that humanity takes means that they're coming closer and closer to the absolute retribution of both the Precursors and the Librarian's plans for not upholding the Mantle. There's some heavy stuff going on, and I also appreciate the grey areas that were always there in Halo, but which were buried by the simplicity of survival in the Human-Covenant War.
