Halo 4 released in 2012, and it seemed like it took the entire studio to work on that game, so how is Halo 5 coming out two years later? With a complete campaign, multiplayer, and surely more since they understand the demand of quality content from this fanbase? Main Halo titles took 3 years or more unless I'm mistaken.
Something must be different. Either they're planning an episodic campaign, or they're re-using the Halo 4 engine so the title can also release on the Xbox 360 (the install base for the 360 will likely still be huge compared to 2014's Xbox Ones install base), or both.
Episodic content for the main campaign -- I'm not a fan of that. Being a lot older than I was when Halo 1 came out, I appreciate being able to play a mission, then wait a week versus staying up to the AMs trying to beat the game, but, that complete package means a lot.
I rather read a book than a series of comics. I rather watch a movie than a series of episodes. Of course, I could wait until a series is complete. I'm mixed feels on an episodic campaign. But, if it gets me a QUALITY Halo 5 sooner? Maybe I am on board.
Interesting thought in regards to if the campaign will be episodic. 343 now has the data and experience on doing episodic storytelling with Halo, so, I suppose we'll see in the next coming months.
