Can we have Bugatti space cars yet?

The sweeping shots we got at the beginning eyeing the surface of Elysium from close orbit and in-atmosphere brought back those vivid memories of being on Halo or the Citadel Presidium for the first time. Seeing the desolate Californian landscape brought a tear to my eye. Having lived there for some years it really got to me to see these fictional people's plight in a place I hold so dear. Nevertheless, it still possessed its own unique beauty. Brazilian favelas and Iraqi and Afghan villages come to mind when I think back on it.

So yeah, I loved this film. The social commentary was clear, if a bit pushy, one can only hope that we never repeat these mistakes that have plagued our history so many times in our past. We cannot let these assholes get into orbit. Anyhoo, Elysium is a super fun summer blockbuster. Airburst rounds shredding robots apart, dynamic camerawork livening up an exoskeleton brawl, and awfully pretty flowers in the guts of Elysium gave me sexual thrills.

Good soundtrack too.
