I mean if you're telling a story about an ages-old galactic-scale civilization that hasn't been stable the whole time since it reached that scale, there are going to be battles, most likely big ones that are in space, and some of those will change the face of the galaxy, to where Star Wars after that point would not be what it is without those massive space battles. I know, it's stretching meanings and connotations a bit... but am I wrong?
