The remakes also vary from extreme to extreme in their approach and resulting quality. Some projects keep the exact style, upscale them and polish them for bigger screens. Fable looked like that, I think. Beyond Good and Evil seemed like it was done right from my limited time with it. But then others rewrite the classic visuals and audio. They replace thought-out decisions by the original creators with flashy textures and modern trends - it's about shocking you with its revision instead of preservation. It's like somebody adapting Shakespeare into modern prose.

I'd rather not risk having my memories rewritten and just keep my original XBox working and play my favorites on what they were originally meant for. They still look as great as they ever did. They haven't changed it all. They haven't gotten worse over time. Newer technology has just made new games look different, more realistic, and usually more brown and full random grit. But that's not necessarily 'better'.
