In Response To: Re: Did You Think It'd Be Out Tomorrow? (Gravemind)

: I think he means he's surprised that it's coming out only two years after
: Halo 4. Assuming this new Halo game (which is likely "Halo 5"
: even if it doesn't end up going by that name) has a three-year development
: cycle, then there was a period when 343I was working on Halo 4 and Halo 5
: at the same time. I wonder if that's why Halo 4 feels so lacking in
: quality (by Halo standards) and, well, incomplete.

I would like to point out that I don't think this is something that 343 can really control.

I'm sure I'll catch flak for this but I blame the gamers. Yeah, you heard me, I blame us.

Companies produce products at a rate and pace that best matches public demand (abiding by the laws of supply and demand of course, so lets say that supply is not an issue in this discussion please).

It seems the majority of gamers are fine with more frequent sequels- if that's what they want companies are more than happy to sell to them.

Don't like it?

Then don't buy it.

Again, vote with your wallet.

Until a point is reached where the market becomes over-saturated (like what happened with the music-rhythm games) there may be more people unhappy with the frequency but at the end of they day they're still handing over their money.

The only difference is they do it with a frown while others do it with a smile.

First-world problems.

It's ironic, isn't it? In our desire to have 'more more more' we become numb to it when we actually get it. It's like being addicted to a drug. The longer you do it, the more you need to get high as you build a tolerance.

Perhaps that's what we are experiencing, in a way.
