I've been thinking for a while now that probably the easiest thing 343i could do to ensure quality halo is there for the release of the nextbox would be a second season for Sp Ops. It's not a full fledged game so maybe it could work with the timeframe - and if the use of a new console would justify the reason to charge players for the new season (assuming graphics get ramped up or other features are added). I just find it strange that we were give a "season 1" of spartan ops when there were no plans for a season 2 - the idea that a 2nd season isnt coming could just be a ruse. i don't really know if such an approach is technically feasible but it would seem to fill the need for halo at release.

Also, for the record, i would welcome a halo 2 remake at the 10-year point (and would hope the remakes end there), but only if it's a complete overhaul and comes complete with the multiplayer we knew - those long nights on those maps on xbox live were bliss. should 343 choose such a path but decide to go sans the standby epidemic i would be willing give them a pass on dropping that one feature.
