Look. I don't think we're ever going to agree. I don't think this conversation is going to go anywhere. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. We're probably just wasting our time.
But I will tell you that it is critically important to our future survival that you start capitalizing my name. Critically. Important.
: People on this forum (myself included) often fall into the pitfall of
: thinking everything in a fictional universe has to appear functional and
: be canonically consistent. But that's dumb, and it's a philosophy bound
: for disappointment. The point of a fictitious universe is to entertain the
: audience, and it's a lot easier to do that when you're loose with your
: in-universe rules.
Maybe that's true if you're writing for The Simpsons, but playing fast and loose with canon has only hurt the storywriters of Halo. Cody Miller made the exact same argument you're making right now, just after Halo 4 released. : Spartan Vale is ludicrously curvy and that doesn't meet my definition of what
I'd like my supersoldiers to look like supersoldiers. Can we leave the gratuitous fanservice to other franchises?
Upon reflection, I realized that there's an outside chance that Vale's armor could be justified. If she's not just a translator but a sort of liaison with Sangheili forces, she'd wear Sangheili-inspired armor, which would naturally be colored in a garish primary color like the Sangheili do. Sort of a "Win the hearts and minds and trust" kind of thing.
That said, the armor is still hideous. I think that Bungie could've done a much better job in their prime.
: Or maybe you enjoy being disappointed, you masochist.
No, you see, I'm a perpetual pessimist. That way I'm never disappointed, only pleasantly surprised.
: a realistic supersoldier should be. Too bad, lots of fans enjoy
: fanservice . Who am I to begrudge them that?
