I don't need to see his. Neither do you nor anyone else. Master Chief is not Samus nor any of tye thousands of other visible heroes/characters out there. He's pretty unique, at his core, and there is no reason to actually see his face.

What makes Chief so awesome, is the fact that there still some mystery about him. It takes a LOT MORE, then seeing his face, to give him character and/or humanity. The thing you seem to be missing is that Master Chief already has character, and he does a great job of showing his humanity. Halo4 is filled with him showing his humanity, as are the books. All while in full body armor. Speaking of books, we easily get attached to characters, in novels, without ever seeing their faces.

The moment, Chief's face is shown, will be the moment his mystery jumps out the window and falls off the cliff. Playwrs already know he's a concasian male and covered in battle scars. And that's all they/we need to know, game wise. The moment a player sees his face will be the moment they find a reason to seperate themselves from the character. It'll be the moment they find a reason to dislike him or to find something politically incorrect about him.

Players can relate so well woth Master Chief because they don't exactly know what he looks like. It's not shoved in their faces as they play. Sure they know he's a old white dude, but that is only if they played Halo4's last level on Legendary, or read the novels. But for those that do know this detail, it's buried in the back of their mind and so they never have a chance, or reason, to think about it.

Players loved Samus until they learned it was a girl in the armor. Great game and all but the fact that, Samus is a pretty white girl, is shoved in the player's face, with each game, has pushed players away. The little detail of her face, coupled with her beauty, age, & race, just alienated players. I loved the games but I could no longer find a reason to relate to her character. So I stopped playing the games.

Half-Life has a know lead character who's face we have seen. But Gordon Freeman's face is not shoved in the player's..er face as they play. He's not even seen in the cinematics simply because Valve doesn't want to take the player out of the experiance of being that character. No one can relate with Chell, Mario, Faith, or Commander Shepard. All great characters with faces we can see. All characters with clear indications of humanity (though Mario is on the boarder).
