I have never played a Halo or Metroid game where sexual preference was even mentioned or "thrown in my face all the time".

Or had the characters positioned\presented in a provocative way.

I have a feeling you spend too much time on Deviant Art (or something similar) seeing OTHER peoples sexualization of these characters, and you're letting it bleed into other areas.

I know rule34 runs rampant, and there's likely all kinds of fan drawn porn of Samus, Cortana, Chief, sonic, mario, crash bandicootand so on and so forth.

The official media could not be further from those portrayals.

I strongly suggest that you stick to games that are rated "E" for everyone, as the other ones you have played clearly contain too much mature content that may not be suitable for you.
