I guess I'm just apprehensive about abilities. A lot of them can be justified as equipment, and you could probably justify the whole range of Mass Effect abilities as "A Forerunner sidearm has clamped onto your chest, and you can access about 5% of the original function. Have fun."

That said, there's a sliding scale of powers. There's the awesome stuff, like hacking enemy shields and spontaneously overheating their weapons. Then there's some really cheesy stuff, like pounding the ground so hard everyone else is stunned. It was lame when the Didact did it, and it'll be lame if a Spartan does it.

I used to go to Waypoint to bask in the insanity, but the Universe no longer satisfies that urge. It's all "Which Spartan is your favorite" or half-baked theories or crap that belongs in General Discussion.

To get my fix, I need to delve into the Halo: Guardians forum.
