Yeah. Makes sense that the Gravemind wouldn't try to enter Earth's atmosphere, because that would probably have torn High Charity apart even before it could reach the Ark.

The other option would have been for the Gravemind to enter the portal from the Slipspace side, travelling to the Ark without even exiting Slipspace in the Sol system.
