My above posts (& Dan's ones) were mostly concerned with who she was (in fact I never said she definitely had something to do with the story, but that she could--my "Ah, why would she be there?" was contemplative).

Anyway, the box could show a picture of Konoko as a Scooby-Doo character, but it would still be Konoko; An odd Konoko, but Konoko. So it could reveal things. I do agree with you with respect to the style not being Anime, but perhaps there is a reason. Probably not one I would understand (nor you), but maybe someone thought that Oni was a Final Fantasy parody (as jcampen pointed out that the woman's appearance resembles those characters).
Definitely not a good reason for us.
Matt, could you help us out with this? Maybe tell us which Bungie West guy to go to?
