Yes, several fan arts have a lone Kanji. But that doesn't necessarily mean the box design is imitating them. Anyway, I probably won't save my Oni box unless it has some really good Anime on it, so the fact that the woman doesn't even look like Anime doesn't bother that. However, I still feel the need to ask "why?". Why the new woman? I wonder if an email should be sent to someone--whoever designed the box--asking them that question.
But I don't know who that that person would be, so I can't.
Now, if the box was imitating a fan art, I think it should be "Konoko & Symbol" ( http://oni.bungie.org/archives/fanart_images/konokoandsymbol_small.jpg ). That one IMO looks excellent for an Oni box.
