Plus it gives Sony time to research market data, ramp up its inventory, clear legal issues, and promote (hype it up) it. October 26 is a good time because it gives them time to sell their first batch, study the results, and fine tune their distribution strategy for the holidays. At the same time, moms and dads can begin to save for it. June-August is when most of the population go on vacation (therefore spend money), and September is when school starts ("you just started school, I'm not buying you a PS2!"). Of course, this is all pure speculation... | |
