I could see this as a worthwhile improvement. You shouldn't be able to see into nearby rooms. However, you're wrong that it means no strategy. In the real world, you'd be peeking into rooms before rushing in anyway.

It's slightly sexist in that it implies that the average male has a higher capacity for beating someone up than the average female and thus the implied insult (you're going to get beat by someone that most people would assume can't beat you). I wouldn't go having a cow about it.
