Lol…it's just stage lighting. Ingame is no more than a play for our amusement. Even the scenery is flat! :-)

Well, it could be that the map doesn't always have up facing north, as mentioned above, which is evident on such maps as "Across the Gjol." It's the south bank of the Gjol, but the force is facing the left side of the map rather than the bottom.
In any case, as very funny your post is, I tend to just dismiss this kind of thing as part of the play. :-)
