In Response To: Hmm, on Luminaries (davidfuchs)

: I dunno how much it really does to solve the Halo: Reach inconsistencies—the
: biggest issue has always been the timeframe of the events depicted rather
: than the idea that they sent some scout teams to the surface and engaged a
: part of the fleet before more arrived.

: Not entirely surprising, given that 343 did not pursue the H=F avenue that
: Contact Harvest did, but it's interesting that the Luminaries as described
: here do not function as the Luminaries in Contact Harvest did—that is,
: detecting humans, but rather activated Forerunner tech. To me it was
: always odd that the Luminaries would work that way—leaving aside the
: dramatic reveal that humans are Forerunner inheritors, how did the
: Covenant not easily find and exterminate every human hole via that method?
: Space is big, but it's not that big given the speed of FTL travel in Halo
: and the apparent range of sensors.

Timeline issue exist still Obviously, but this helps explain why LNoS was exposed to such an easy assault, lends more credence to the fact much of Reach was unaffected and oblivious to the initial attacks.

Regarding Luminaries, this further confirms there are different "versions" of what the Covenant called Luminaries. I'm sure after the revelation of Human=Reclaimer, the hierarchs had this edited out of most Luminaries. This doesn't explain the one given to Rho though, as it seems his is "untainted" and should presumably light up with millions of Reclaimer glyphs.
