The Master Chief Collection still only allows two co-op players for Halo 1 and 2. I think SESpider was saying something got confused in trying to account for four players, but I doubt that, because Halo 1 never scaled things for co-op, and there was no announcement of changing it to do that for this release or Halo Anniversary, it was part of why they kept it limited to two players.
