Probably the most obvious one--the achievements. I could only assume as much, but that's definitely the most ridiculous and insulting thing to intentionally leave out. 343 Industries, as it seems to pride itself on telling us, has track of everything Halo that we ever do online. Halo Waypoint, Halo Channel, Service Records, Career details, BPM's, and there's no way to mass-unlock all those achievements that we all worked so hard for over the past eleven years?! I know it won't be all of them, but still. Now I have to go through the Library again, do Annual, and all too much more crap that I did anyway. I guess it's fitting then, since we're playing the same games over and over.
Then there's the counter of our progress in the bottom right: Let me be the first to say I'm extremely grateful to finally have scoring and medals in campaign--something I've always wanted. But the progress bar only shows score or time, not both. So either I'm racking up points and not knowing how long I'm taking, or speeding through and ignorant of my number of points.
The plasma pistol problem still runs deep from the Original Anniversary. When I shoot more than once per minute, the game glitches and plays the "charged" sound, and won't stop until I cancel it out. That's annoying, especially on Legendary where it's essentially required.
Re-earning skulls--again, we got these already, AND they're available from the start. Why do we have to find the skulls again when they're already at our disposal? I'm seriously thinking of going through and finding each skull in the game, WITH that skull on.
Speedrunning. I already voiced my protests on that. We're not all goatrope, and I guess more importantly, we don't WANT TO BE GOATROPE. Forcing us all to break records and do unreasonable speed runs is a serious dick move.
Maybe it's been a while, but I noticed I get laughed at almost every single time I die now. Was that added in, or did I just miss it?
And the terminals. Of course. Another way that 343I decides to disappoint us and force feed us more bullcrap. I press 'X' to see the movie, and I'm taken to the Halo Channel to stream it. For god's sake, guys. They're less than four minutes each and you couldn't put them on the disc? We have to go online, go to your channel, wait for them to load, and watch seconds at a time? ON TOP OF THAT, the thing I predicted happened so fast, I thought 343i was actually listening to me at some point: the very next day and Terminal I find, guess what?
"Error message: we don't have that content any more. You can't access it manually either. Guess you'll have to go to Youtube. Fuck you, Halo fan."
Microsoft got rid of their "online-only" debacle just for 343 Industries to pick it right back up. I may have Internet, but it's not of the highest caliber speed. That's why I prefer downloading all my content to a hard drive, or better yet--having it on disc. Some people, and at least one friend of mine, doesn't even have the internet at all. So there's nothing he can do about any of this.
The menu--I was told that pressing any button on the D-Pad would switch the music to the menu themes of any of the four Halo games--what happened to that excellent idea?
Additionally, when rewards are unlocked, it doesn't tell you what unlocked, or even what you had to do to unlock it. I see a couple of new avatar pictures pop up, and I don't know when they were open, what I did unless I looked at them specifically beforehand, or which ones are new or not. Unlocks should really work like Halo 4's postgame--showing exactly what unlocked as your Spartan flourishes, and a star next to each new reward that remains until you highlight it. And also, the classic checkbox scenario so that you'll know exactly what you did to get it.
No theater mode for Halo 4 again. 1 modder flips a switch, and 343I does not. Nice job, guys. Looks like Halo 4(and I can only guess 5) is still the Cartmanland of Halo games.
And finally, the playlists.
We can't create our own playlists? I mean, we seriously can't create our own playlists? Honestly, we REALLY can't create our own campaign playlists? FOR REAL, WE TRULY HAVE NO OPTION TO CREATE OUR OWN CUSTOMIZED CAMPAIGN PLAYLISTS?!?
I stood up for 343i when everyone was complaining about Halo 4. But now I know--they really are ruining the franchise.
And they're doing it on purpose.
