: Sort of. They're similar in that they occasionally indicate simplistic
: understanding that can lead to poorer results, but whereas
: "louder" is just adjusting the absolute and/or relative values
: of certain samples and can immediately produce problems just by being what
: it is, there aren't a whole lot of situations where having more point
: samples to work with is an issue in its own right (it's usually the
: peripheral impact on other aspects of performance and such that bother
: people).

Of course the changes go beyond making sounds louder. The weapons probably sound more realistic now. That parameter should never have been judged in isolation, though. They monkeyed with a soundscape, and each element of that soundscape has value.
