As with any job, you need to have certain technical competencies, but in a role like this, Halo knowledge is a part of those competencies, right? Joe Average Writer is one thing, but if they don't know spit about Halo, how helpful will they be to the cause. If this were a programming position, Halo knowledge wouldn't be needed at all.
Halo community members already have an interest, even zest, for Halo knowledge. To find those in the community that also have the needed technical competencies is what would be good to find.
What would be interesting is to see if the person they hire is someone with the right core competencies, plus insane Halo knowledge, and yet is not someone who's at all known or involved in the Halo community.
