It makes sense, I think.

I mean, after Bungie gave up the rights to the IP and 343 was given stewardship of it it was like giving it to the community already.

they've even said that before a few times, I think (That 343 views themselves as simply a part of the community*).

*I know bungie said/says that stuff too, but this feels different, if that makes sense.
