: Well some people just don't like objective gametypes. Even so, I try to vary
: it... when I remember... and other people ask for it to be varied and I
: try to do it when they ask. The fact is the majority of the maps we play
: fall into one of three categories: maps that only work with slayer
: maps that only with their co-designed custom gametype and maybe its plain
: version
: maps that work with slayer (and Flood since it doesn't need extra things) and
: are functional with maybe one other gametype, maybe two or even three, and
: hopefully actually work with that gametype or two instead of just saying
: they do or intending to work but not really working.
: I'd really like to know what those other factors are (it doesn't have to be
: here).
If you're not willing to change, then people will get tired of the same experience and move on.
You need to get out of your comfort zone and do something different.
Example - Remove the "admins-only" Party Leader rule. We only used that when we were at the point of running two or three lobbies simultaneously to maintain order and efficiency. For a single lobby with less than five players, it's going to hurt you more than anything.
I would also recommend looking at some other game night threads and seeing how they're put together and see what makes them work and what about your own posts do not. Maybe using a screenshot from the previous week would encourage players to read the thread. It's nice to see yourself in a screenshot, especially in a thread for the event you played in, and it helps establish a player-to-host connection.
Food for thought.
