: I wouldn't say they came across as arrogant or unappreciative, in my opinion.
: Uncompromising, maybe. They knew what they wanted to do and knew what they
: needed to make it happen. I think we can all agree it's a good thing, too.

I didn't mean that they came across as arrogant or unappreciative in this interview. They were awesome in Xbox Live's development and I'm glad they stuck to their guns, sort to speak.

But that's the general impression I've gotten from the studio over the past five or so years. They (broadly speaking, as a company) see Microsoft as a hostile entity that unfairly took over their little game development company and enslaved them for ten years -- they've said as much on their website in job postings. I also heard that they used Reach as a testing ground for potential gameplay mechanics for Destiny, like bloom, AAs, and loadouts, all of which didn't really fit in the Halo sandbox. Then there was the "trashing of the hotel room" they did on Bungie Day in 2011, when they gave away every piece of Reach's unlockable and hidden content--like star nameplates and special helmets--before 343 took over matchmaking.

At some point after Halo 3's release Bungie stopped caring about Halo and also stopped caring about Halo fans. And they blame Microsoft, despite the fact that they might not even exist today without Microsoft's support.

I think they made awesome games, and I think in many important ways (such as community involvement and online play) they are the most innovative developer of the past 15 years. But sometimes their petty corporate disputes get the best of them and fans are hurt the most.
