I wouldn't say they came across as arrogant or unappreciative, in my opinion. Uncompromising, maybe. They knew what they wanted to do and knew what they needed to make it happen. I think we can all agree it's a good thing, too.

I was actually surprised at how much Bungie had a part in shaping Xbox Live. I mean, we all know Halo, and Bungie in general, have set the standard for a long time. But I didn't know how true that was in Halo 2's case. I mean, you can see how basically every game since then has mimicked most of it's features. But I just thought Bungie were just taking advantage of features of Xbox Live in ways that no other developers were. Had no idea that Live was basically completely reworked specifically for them.

It was a great article, and one of the reasons Polygon is one of the few (if not the only) video game news source I routinely check out. They always have great features about the history of developers or platforms or games or something, and not just the standard trolling for clicks articles we get from IGN and Kotaku and the like.
