I'll be doing this with my girlfriend when she's back from uni, and I've decided on:
Reach > H1 > H2 > H3 > H4
And then if she's still interested, ODST. It's easier to follow a story when it's in chronological order, especially when you're doing it for the first time. ODST is so different in terms of gameplay and narrative style that it feels odd to shoehorn it between two games that are different to it. I also feel like it's more of a love letter to us Halo nerds than a real, stand alone game, so perhaps it'll be appreciated better as that.
