I'll be the contrary in the group. If she's actually getting something out of the story, then ODST first because at the end you're excavating a giant hole in the ground and then early on in Halo 3 you see it fully uncovered. If I had the opportunity myself, I'd do chronological order. I'd go so far as play the first 3 levels of Halo 2, then play ODST and then continue Halo 2. :)
