During co-op night last night we watched the prologue again and one thing stood out to me I hadn't paid much attention to before. Halsey stated they stole children because they were more accepting of augmentations AND indoctrination. The Chief is UNSC through and through and I doubt he'd do much to go against that. That said, now that Cortana is in limbo, Halsey has apparently defected and most of his fellow Spartan-II's are in that grey area of being heroes/outcasts, it might do something to him that causes questions to his blind faith and loyalty as we have already seen some hints of that against Del Rio.
