Haven't played it so have no true opinion to form. Sounds similar to other things 343 has tried and (in my opinion, clearly) failed at in H4. They were also hyping up CSR and competitive gameplay and omg and that was weak as all hell, too. Basically, anything 343 announces that they claim to have tested and put much iteration and discussion into I take with a grain of salt based on their own track record.

Based on the details, I can't believe they're choosing AR start. And don't get me wrong, I've actually thoroughly enjoyed the AR (and couldn't really find any reason for it to be weapon tuned, but whatever now), and even in its weapon-tuned state I don't dislike it, but making that the starting weapon? Really?

I bet their weapon placements suck, but then, most all of their maps suck. Hopefully the community maps are up to the test.

I disagree with the support upgrade.

Btw, do you ever see people having to proclaim that "something is back" or "something is saved" if it's actually pretty good and enjoyable on its own? Do you ever hear people having to defend truly great games and movies and novels? There will always be naysayers, but H4 isn't one of those cases.

But no, Halo is not saved. No, this playlist doesn't suck. No idea how this thing is going to play out. If anything I bet it's mundane and just more of the same of 343 splitting the community by creating another playlist with totally different rules than everything else. Too little too late? Probably. I'd say The Pit and that other new map are going to do more for getting people to come back (at least for a time) than this new playlist. Hell, I bet people looking to play The Pit gets more time and devotion than this playlist does in its lifetime.
