It could, if having a day/night cycle means that they'd go ahead and shift lots of pieces of the lighting system to real-time solutions where they otherwise would have used baked data. Particularly if they didn't want to compromise much on things like perceived GI quality. Those light bounces won't calculate themselves!

It's arguably one of the more plausible things in that document.
