I think that the Didact, and the Forerunner in general, need to die a quiet death.
Greg Bear proved me wrong: The Forerunner-Flood conflict and the Terminals were worth revisiting.
343i proved me right: The Forerunner have no place in the modern Haloverse, and are better used as part of the background.

What I want to see is an exploration of the Factions Formerly Known as the Covenant. Lets see the workarounds they've produced to keep up their technological edge over Humanity. Let's see what the Grunts, Jackals, and Hunters have gotten up to now that significant numbers of them are on their lonesome. Give me Innies working with ex-Covenant, give me the Arbiter's kill-teams going after the Innies, give me the ONI bean-counters following the kill-teams around to see if they find anything interesting.

Most of all, give me something to call the ex-Covenant factions besides the "Covenant" moniker.
