: They are not dropping the platform any where near as quickly as the original
: Xbox. With an install base of 75+million units you would be
: IN-FUCKING-SANE to drop that. That is the reason why CoD, Assassins Creed,
: Destiny, Battlefield and countless other games will still be on 360/PS3
: this year. Also Phil Spencer said there is a huge 360 related announcement
: at E3. We will see what that is.

Yeah, I saw in an article that they'd still be selling 360 alongside the One.

: I think the 360 mini being the backwards compatibility solution is nothing
: more than a rumor. With all the incredibly negative press that came out of
: Tuesday, maybe the one thing that could have salvaged the day is MS saying
: "we have a solution to backwards compatibility, we are not ready to
: share our plans at the time but we have a way." Instead they have
: reiterated that there is no BC.

... random thought.
What's the feasibility of releasing a 360 accessory? An add-on to the One that perhaps connects via USB, maybe LAN? May or may not include a CD drive. But a stripped down, small processor-packed 360 box that would execute its games and send the result through the One?
Without a drive, the One could read the disc and push the data to the mini box, which could do all the playing - no emulator needed; and the One HD could be used so no included HD drive.
With a drive, the mini box could do all the work.
Either way, the mini box could send the output to the One (avoiding yet another media source to our systems), or just output from the mini box.

Without a drive, it has no moving parts. Just the processors and architecture needed to run 360 games natively as they were meant to be run, non-emulated; and released as an exclusive add-on to the XBO for anyone who doesn't already have a 360 (and cheaper than the full box of course), which would continue to bring all 360 games to the XBO, while allowing new native XBO games to be released.

Logistically, I think it's sound. :)
