In Response To: Halo, E3'13 and XBO. (gamerguy2002)

: So far, there hasn't been plans to have their loyal 360 consumer base to play
: our 360 games on the new console, Xbox One. and it sounds like that at
: this point they are going to drop the 360 like a lead weight right after
: the One launch. Sounds like it being the keyword, they may or may not.

They are not dropping the platform any where near as quickly as the original Xbox. With an install base of 75+million units you would be IN-FUCKING-SANE to drop that. That is the reason why CoD, Assassins Creed, Destiny, Battlefield and countless other games will still be on 360/PS3 this year. Also Phil Spencer said there is a huge 360 related announcement at E3. We will see what that is.

: Why would Microsoft screw their own game company like that?

Well I can't speak as to why they would screw themselves the way they did with the Xbox One announcement...The 360 however they aren't screwing themselves.

: Why would they not want Halo 4 fans playing on their shiny
: new console? so all that development time for Halo 4 was just for a years
: worth of play on the current console? Yes I know Halo 4 won't die after
: the launch of the One, but its just gonna feel like it has since MS is
: going to go full One promotion and do very little

Um the reason why would be because Halo 4's unique player numbers numbers are DISMAL and they are itching to get the newest multiplayer out. I used to be a die hard multi player guy. Around 10,000 matches combined Halo 2/3/Reach and I haven't played H4 in a month. Not that it is a bad game, I simply have lost interest in multiplayer in general (For all games) and stick to single player games....Many other people have shared that practice and abandoned Halo 4 multi...

: MS has something planned. it just seems too weird to have 1 of their biggest
: produced games fall to the way side in less then a year since its release
: for amazing things like Forza, sports games, TV the App, or Dogs of Duty
: 7. Unless they really HAVE gone full retard ad this is the dreaded
: "3rd console curse" and they all literally lost their minds.

Forza is awesome and Dogs of Duty will be the next Nintendogs bro.

: So what do you think they will do @ E3 for Halo? announce the "Xbox
: Mini", the rumored console replacement for the 360 thats supposed to
: be our Backwards compatibility for the One and thus having a way to play
: Halo 4 on XBO? A XBO version of Halo 4? or a new installment like Halo 2
: anniversary with its own separate multiplayer or (god forbid) Halo 5?

: Speculate!

I think the 360 mini being the backwards compatibility solution is nothing more than a rumor. With all the incredibly negative press that came out of Tuesday, maybe the one thing that could have salvaged the day is MS saying "we have a solution to backwards compatibility, we are not ready to share our plans at the time but we have a way." Instead they have reiterated that there is no BC.

As for plans with Halo...You got me. I'd love a Halo 2 Anniversary, but I'd also love ODST 2, Halo Wars 2, Halo Kart, or more seriously a 3rd person squad shooter...The possibilities are endless.

Had you asked me a week ago whether or not I believed the Online rumors, the Preowned game fee rumors, the mandatory Kinect rumors, I would have laughed and said "No fucking way, MS would alienate the fanbase like that" (Not not necessarily alienate me, but a lot of the base for sure.)
Now I have no fucking clue what MS is planning Halo wise. After Tuesday's performance they might actually be misguided enough to not launch with a Halo (It wouldn't be the first time).

I am however excited as all hell for E3 (I'll be there in attendance so that plays a big role) but Spencer did say they had 15 exclusives lined up and that 8 are new IP's. Assuming those aren't a bunch of Kinect/Arcade titles, that is a core gamer's wet dream and MS would redeem themselves immensely for Tuesdays clusterfuck.

When all is said and done I'll be getting both the Xbox One and PS4 at launch. I already have a Wii U, and both Xbox and Sony have series that I love. Pretty disappointed by the Next Gen reveals so far. Sony had great Hardware but didn't show any really great games, MS has lesser Hardware and showed jack shit. Not the kind of Hype train I've been accustomed to with previous launches...Yet I remain hopeful.
