Okay, thanks for the responses. Let's see how things shape up. With such a huge mass of videos though, figuring out how best to go about tagging things and getting info such as publication date & place (if that's generally part of what's being done) must have been quite an issue.

For major names such as Ducain, Frogblast, Ms. Man and so on, perhaps some extra attention would be merited on a manual basis? I don't know if that's in your plan.

It's great, and is why VLC has been my go-to video player for many years. I've even used it regularly on 1080p videos. They usually benefit from it, let alone the difference it can make for old-school 360p and suchlike.

Even with my own videos, which are 480p, I typically watch them double-sized with significant sharpening turned on. In effect, the sharpening allows me to use larger viewing dimensions. So that's a second benefit of the sharpening facility.
