In the episode 00 "Primer" Giraud mentions seeing the Chief 6 years ago - and there's the photo he took of Chief in Mombasa. So it seems like Giraud's research is taking place in 2558 - frankly, I'm surprised ONI hired such a sharp guy, and I'm kind of worried for his safety.
