And no Marty working on this. It's like, finally - someone involved musically with Halo that isn't Marty (or Michael) finally f*****g realizes that you can take artistic liberties with Marty Music™ without butchering the good name that is Halo. This has been my biggest complaint with Halo 4 and Halo Legends. Waaaaaaay too much disrespect for the music.
This stuff? It's good. Damn good. I tend to agree with Avateur a little - pacing is off, at least for the Halo Theme, mostly with the monk chants. Second Prelude is just a little rushed - not too concerned.
Track by track:
1. Halo Theme: Dear God... Steve Vai for president. That theme was incredible.
2. Second Prelude - Very good. A bit rushed, as above.
3. Breaking the Covenant - I thought Misha Mansoor was just a tad underwhelming, but, hey, so was Incubus with "Follow" in the Banshee segment, so that'll fit right in. His guitar playing is mediocre at best in that track, but the background music that picks up toward the end was phenomenal, so I do have my hopes. But again, "Follow" also stuck out like a sore thumb, so I'm not going to get too upset about this track.
4. Impart - Nailed it. Just nailed it. Love it.
5. Kilindini Harbour - That horn section. Boom. Epic. This is exactly how you do artistic liberty - you take a song, and then make it better. This song is better. More epic. Love it.
6. Unforgotten Memories - So much like the original. It flows so well.
Overall, I love these. Good job, 343. This music is as much Halo as Halo is this music. This really makes me smile. Thank you.
