I just watched the Halo 2 Anniversary gameplay on Delta Halo... I have to admit that it looks very pretty, though some things still look too... Shiny compared to the original look. What really bothers me however is the terrible sound.

Many of the sound effects had obviously been changed from their robust and powerful deadly Halo 2 sounds. The SMGs sound incredibly weak and like they were being fired in a vacuum with a reverberating echo. The tank falls with a thud lighter than a Spartan, and runs as silent as a Tesla Car. The Rockets sound like cap guns in the distance. The new sound for Plasma grenades sounds MUCH weaker than the original, but also Alien... So I can totally get behind that one (:D).

Some sounds were missing and I realize it said work in progress, but this is the same problem we got with Halo 4. Videos were released and MANY fans complained about the TERRIBLE direction they were going with sound design. We were reassured that the sounds were not complete and sounded great in stereo, surround, headphones, etc. But when Halo 4 was released, many sounds still left the impression that they were recorded in a vacuum, given a reverberating echo, and just shoe-horned into the game.

While the other Halo games weren't perfect, the sound was pretty great. Halo 4 left MANY of us wondering what was wrong with our audio systems before the realization was painfully obvious; nothing was wrong with OUR systems!

I'm not trying to be negative about this release. I just don't understand how they call them "updated" sounds when they sound worse. And I'm terrified of Halo 2 sounds being left with another Halo 4 Warthog whine...
