: If it's really the graphics-switch thing holding it back, the choice is
: painfully obvious to me: cut the feature.
: It was a gimmick 3 years ago and it's still a gimmick. It does not make the
: game they are releasing, this year, any better. Sure you get to compare
: the clutter lighting, effects etc but the comparison is still deeply
: flawed since even 'old graphics' mode will be 3-4x the res and twice the
: framerate of the original (I'm guessing?).
: Just make it a main menu option, for gods sake, max out the res and play up
: the extremity of resolution increase in the promotional materials. (5x the
: pixels! wow!)
: Nobody will really care about not switching graphics once they're playing:
: they'll just prefer it's as pretty as possible. They did, after all, buy a
: new HDTV and console for this.
: Why is this even happening?
CEA's "back" feature was awesome, and it's made me annoyed by every other remake I've played since that doesn't have it (looking at you, Fable Anniversary). You can still understand how the game looked at the time without saying "you need to be playing this on a 480i SDTV!" Besides, who wouldn't want to see the original game in a pretty format as well?
Having it be essentially instantaneous in H2A means people will use it more often as there's not a penalty or chance of dying suddenly while it crossfades.
That matters more to me than some arbitrary number of lines of resolution. It's still going to look phenomenal compared to the original.
