Story-wise, for sure. Microsoft, or whomever at 343i decides what the movie will be about is going to alienate some people, that's inevitable though right. You can't make everyone happy. However there certainly is enough Halo lore to make a great movie, even under Bungie's care.
In my mind it doesn't even have to be an adaptation of anything we've seen so far. Just show us some familiar characters and make a movie (not a video game turned into a movie). I want them to make me care about characters, plot, and the choices they make. It should still "feel" like Halo but doesn't need to have a certain atmosphere/direction that we've seen in games.
In all honesty I'd rather see the humanization of the chief played out in a film than a game, because you can make it feel more real.
: Producer, director, and writer aside, will Microsoft give them enough creative control or ability to truly make something great. I would prefer not to see yet another terrible video game movie, let alone a terrible Halo movie.
Agreed. I hope that Microsoft will trust and give them that control. This is why Producer/Director/Writer/Editor are all so very important. Most important to me though is the Director; in the end it's his/her vision that everyone sees the story through. And editing/sound/acting/music is there to enhance that vision.
