No insult to Mr. Scott personally, but I have to admit I would be excited in Halo's future again if the art direction significantly changed. I might more easily come to terms with the other departures Microsoft have taken.

(The same notion goes for the other major ingredients as well: if the music utilized the more of the old themes I could overlook some of the strange visual designs; if Lord Hood or Sgt. Buck showed back up and felt like their old spirits, I could handle the lack of music themes, etc.)
