NO LAN? are you serious? For a year now I've been looking forward to kicking and shooting the $hit out of my room/dorm-mates!! Seriously? So far I've been limited to Unreal Tournament, which btw sucks compared to the ALPHA version of Oni that I played at MacWorld NY in 99. The multi-player setup Bungie had at that expo was the best multi-player gaming experience I've had. The martial arts were so satisfying, especially knowing that you just beat-up a person who is right next to you. Think of that, in a dorm situation... Beating up your best buds? Thats too good!! I left MacWorld NY in 99 knowing that Oni was truly different in that someone with gameplay experience could easily take out someone who was un-skilled. Because the moves and the controls made sense, skill was the BIGGEST factor. I was there for 3 days and I looked like a pro when I left because my skills improved, not because I was lucky or just tapping on all the buttons. I would PLAN my attacks on the people right next to me! I'd duck the idiot on the right trying some simple move because he was new, and then immediately provide a counter-attack to the more skilled guy on my right... It was an unbelievable gaming experience that I've been waiting for ever since. And now they've taken it out? That alpha that I played didn't even have weapons and the experience in martial arts alone was that incredible. This is an incredible let down of untold proportions and I don't know if I can get over it. I will most certianly still buy the game, but let me say right now that as someone who played an alpha version of multi-player Oni and thought it was the best multi-player gaming experience of his life - I am UPSET. I do NOT agree that this was a smart move. So I ask, WHY OH WHY could you have taken LAN play from the game? Bungie? I don't believe this has happened, this is horrible... My rant is over.
